To further celebrate the historic high tea at the Mount Nelson Belmond, a custom Tea Menu booklet was commissioned to be given to clients as a “take home” memory. Our initial design concepts took inspiration from the geometric patterns and art deco interiors of the hotel. Pastel pink mimicked the colour of the hotel, with covers embellished by luxury print finishes, gold foiling and blind embossing.

The painterly style of artist Toby Newsome added a unique illustrative style to the menu. Amongst his illustrations were portraits the Tea Somelier, Pastry Chef,  Cakes as well as Nelly the cat. The Tea Menu Booklets have been so well received they have gone into third print production.

The Legacy:

The Afternoon Tea service was first introduced at The Nellie in November 1989, and served in the lounge from the majestic Windsor Table. With more than 60 carefully chosen fine, loose-leaf teas from across the globe, a unique coffee experience, and a sumptuous array of sweet and savoury delicacies, “tea at the Nellie” has become a much loved Cape Town tradition.

In a sea of digital marketing we are exposed to daily, a beautiful print publication can truly make your stand out! Why not chat to our team at PURE to discuss or publication design services for your brand?

*** Special thanks to the incredible artist Toby Newsome who worked with our team on the illustrations.
