Branding Vs. Marketing

As a business owner, it is essential to understand the difference between branding and marketing so that they can both be utilized effectively. While they are certainly connected, there are a few differences between the two.

So, what is branding?

Branding is the image of your brand that is created through visual elements such as a logo, colours, typography, illustrations etc. It is a strategy to help consumers quickly identify and experience your brand and give them a reason to choose your product or service over your competitors. The objective is to attract and retain loyal customers by delivering a product that is always aligned with your brands messaging and promise.

And what is marketing?

Marketing refers to the promotion of a product or service and the delivery of your brand’s message. Marketing also involves finding and growing a market for your brand that leads to profitable sales. It is performed by a variety of online and offline methods including SEO, content marketing, social media marketing, pay per click marketing, print campaigns, TV and radio.

In conclusion, branding is who you are, and marketing is how you build awareness. You could create your marketing strategy without having branding in place, but your conversions will be low as your customers are not connecting to your brand. Your brand creates a connection with your customers, and it is essentially the one thing that keeps them coming back. Therefore, both are very necessary and having an understanding of them both will only help to create a strong and successful brand.
