Co-author of South Africa's most important banting book, Sally-Ann Creed wrote her latest book to dispel myths, clarify what a healthy low-carb diet entails and lay out her vision of low-carb living.
Pure Creative’s publishing arm is proud to have produced and designed The Low-Carb Creed, a new book by celebrity nutritionist Sally-Ann Creed. The book comprehensively explores this lifestyle, explaining the background and the science behind it. It then delves into the practical aspects, including easy-to-follow recipes and an extensive nutritional information.
Pure Creative was awarded the commission to design and edit The Low-Carb Creed. The agency sought to highlight the information the low-carb lifestyle in an easy-to-understand fashion, utilising open spaces and modern design devices, including illustrative elements to enhance the abstract ideas presented within. The book’s food photography, taken by Claire Dunn, was conceptualised and art directed by the Pure team to have a simple yet luxurious feel.
Production and printing was done on highest quality papers and special inks, including a hand-illustrated cover image that was embossed and foiled in emerald green foil. “I was excited about the tactile properties inherent with printmaking techniques, from the embossed impression of letterpress and foil stamping of the cover to the colour vibrancy achieved with inks, and the way they sit on the surface of the raw uncoated paper,” said Creative Director Andrew Burke.
