The Africa Café is the epitome of authentic African cuisine – not just from South Africa, but the continent as a whole. The restaurant is the product of a dream and simple means; the founders Portia and Jason had had no formal culinary training prior to opening the restaurant, but took a leap of faith and opened it anyway. They were determined for it to be South Africa’s first exclusively African restaurant. Wish granted.
Within an environment of rich colours, traditional African murals and warm hospitality, guests receive their food on patterned plates. Their menu includes crunch broccoli salad with honey and lemon dressing, wings with honey and herb marinade, and Ethiopian-style chicken thighs cooked in berbere sauce – free range, of course.
Simultaneously appealing to international taste, Africa Café is a must to tourists and locals who appreciate the evolution of authentically African cuisine. Enjoy!
