Taking place from 13 to 25 of August, the Open Design programme engages design practitioners, entrepreneurs, managers, media, educators, students and members of the public to share design, innovation, ideas and inspiration with each other. Their aim is to develop a culture of design as a foundation for future generations of entrepreneurs, change-makers and innovators who use design and innovation to gain and maintain their competitive edge and drive socio-economic change in their communities and cities.
Every day there are a huge selection of events, including presentations from the Sustainability Institute, Southern Guild, one about Virtual Reality in Architecture with an open studios presentation, a Free the Love local market on Harrington Street, an edition of Pecha Kucha and presentations on design careers, to name a few. The events take place mostly at the City Hall, as well as at various venues around the city.
