Since starting my journey at Pure Creative, I’ve had the opportunity to work on so many different projects. Everyday something new surfaces, which helps me keep the creative juices flowing. Andrew and Marianne have also created a truly wonderful work family.
From where do you draw inspiration for your job as an Art Director.
I love looking at international magazines for inspiration. Having said that, there are so many local product designers that I find truly talented in everything they create. It definitely keeps you on your toes.
What is your absolute favourite publication and why?
I have an obsession with Porter magazine. I find their photography and layouts really inspiring and I am a huge fan of the way they use their typography. Their articles are also really interesting. The same can be said about the publications from Monocle and Cereal. They have a clean design style, yet they also have a lot of interesting content and layouts that I cannot stop admiring. I spend hours absorbing these masterpieces.

I am a big fan of Fabricate in Gardens Centre. The products that they sell are incredible and we have recently put our first product, from Pure Products in the shop. Leila is extremely friendly and so supportive of local design.
When you feel like you need to relax after a long day, the Secret Gin Bar – Wale Street, Cape Town – is really fun and relaxing, especially during summertime. It feels like you’ve stepped into a small square in a foreign country for a few hours without even stepping foot on a plane.
What is your latest obsession in Cape Town/South Africa’s creative sphere?
I recently came across a shop called ‘Mash Boutique’ in Green Point. It’s been around for a while, but I have never had the opportunity to go there. Their store is really amazing and stocked with some interesting items, from clothing and accessories to home decor pieces. I also love the way they have laid out their store.
